In this first video Lama Jampa explains how the title ‘Wisdom in Exile’ refers both to the fact that we are spiritually alienated and ‘in exile’ from our own nature, and also that Buddhism is in geographical exile from its Asian origins. He goes on to explain the urgent need to remain faithful to the teachings of the Buddha rather than polluting them with the narcissistic trappings of contemporary culture. Finally Lama Jampa points out that we do not need to reject all aspects of our culture in order to practice the dharma as wisdom is universal.
